Just can’t get to sleep?
If you just can’t get to sleep, and have been lying in bed tossing and turning for more than 15 minutes, get out of bed and do something else. Go out of your bedroom, and engage in a a relaxing activity till you feel a hint of sleepiness. Do not engage in activities that are too arousing ie watching an action packed movie.  Try for a relaxing activity like reading a book or listening to gentle music. Then once you start feeling sleepy, take two and try again. Go to bed and give it another go.

Jetlag Blues
If you are on holiday or business and travelling overseas across time zones, the best way to combat jetlag is to try to adjust to the time at your destination.  Try to avoid sleeping during the daytime if you are arriving at your destination.  The closer you can adjust to going to bed at a normal time at your destination, the better you will combat jetlag.

When you arrive at your destination, resist the urge to hop into bed and instead, try to get some sunlight.  Sunlight helps to suppress melatonin and will help adjust your body clock more quickly.  That way, when it comes time to sleep time in your new destination, your body will be better adjusted to get a good night’s sleep.
